LIBERTY

Origin/History
Liberty is a triploid aroma-type cultivar, the result in 1983 of the colchicine induced tetrapcoid female cultivar Hallertau mf and a downy mildew resistant male, USDA 64035M. It is a half-sister to Ultra, Mt. Hood and Crystal.

Agronomics
Moderate tolerance to downy mildew, Peronospera, and susceptible to powdery mildew, Spaerotheca. The small, open cone is difficult to harvest.

Maturity: Medium-early
Yield: 1150 - 1750 kgs. per ha.
1000-1550 lbs per acre

Brewing Quality
Used for its aromatic properties similar to Hallertau mf.

Alpha acids: 3.5-4.5%
Beta acids: 3.0-3.5%
Alpha:Beta Ratio: 1.0
Cohumulone (% of alpha acids): 24-28%
   
Total Oil (Mls. per 100 grams): 1.0-1.8
Caryophyllene (as % of total oils): 9-12%
Farnesene (as % of total oils): 0%
Humulene (as % of total oils): 30-40%
Myrcene (as % of total oils): 32-42%

Storability is poor to fair.
