MOUNT HOOD

Origin/History
Mt. Hood is a triploid aroma-type cultivar, the 1983 result of a cross between the colchicine - induced tetraploid female Hallertau mf (USDA 21397) and the USDA 19058M, male plant. It is a half-sister to Ultra, Liberty and Crystal.

Agronomics
Tolerant to downy mildew, Peronospera, with good pickability of a medium, compact, cone.

Maturity: Medium
Yield: 1700-2000 kgs. per ha.
1500-1800 lbs. per acre

Brewing Quality
Used for its aromatic properties similar to
Hallertau mf.

Alpha acids: 4.0-6.0%
Beta acids: 5.0-7.5%
Alpha:Beta Ratio: 0.8
Cohumulone (% of alpha acids): 22-27%
   
Total Oil (Mls. per 100 grams): 1.0-1.3
Caryophyllene (as % of total oils): 8-15%
Farnesene (as % of total oils): 0%
Humulene (as % of total oils): 25-35%
Myrcene (as % of total oils): 30-40%

Storability is poor.
