VANGUARD

Origin/History
Vanguard is a diploid seedling made in 1982 between USDA 21285, which has Hallertau mf parentage and USDA 64037m. It was released for cultivation in 1997.

Agronomics
Tolerant to downy mildew, Peronospera, with good pickability of a compact cone.

Maturity: Early
Yield: 1300-1700 kgs. per ha.
1300-1700 lbs. per acre

Brewing Quality
Used for its aromatic properties and low cohumulone similar to the Hallertau mf cultivar.

Alpha acids: 5.0-6.0%
Beta acids: 5.0-7.0%
Alpha:Beta Ratio: 1.0
Cohumulone (% of alpha acids): 15-20%
   
Total Oil (Mls. per 100 grams): 0.8-1.2
Caryophyllene (as % of total oils): 10-15%
Farnesene (as % of total oils): 0.5%
Humulene (as % of total oils): 43%
Myrcene (as % of total oils): 20%

Storability is good.
