WILLAMETTE

Origin/History
Willamette is a triploid aroma-type hop, which originated in the mid 1970’s and is a seedling of Fuggle. It is a very popular aroma hop, contributing in 1998 to 18% of the total USA hop crop.

Agronomics
Tolerant to downy mildew, Peronospera with fair pickability of a medium size open cone.

Maturity: Early to medium
Yield: 1600 - 1800 kgs. per ha.
1400 - 1600 lbs. per acre

Brewing Quality
Use for its aromatic properties and moderate bittering.

Alpha acids: 4.0-6.0%
Beta acids: 3.5-4.5%
Alpha:Beta Ratio: 1.1
Cohumulone (% of alpha acids): 30-35%
   
Total Oil (Mls. per 100 grams): 1.0-1.5
Caryophyllene (as % of total oils): 8-12%
Farnesene (as % of total oils): 5-10%
Humulene (as % of total oils): 20-30%
Myrcene (as % of total oils): 20-30%

Storability is fair.
