Trellis high by 4th of July! Hop bine growth is on track thanks to cooperative weather providing abundant sunshine, warm day temperatures and cool nights. Typically, Pacific Northwest growers measure progress by monitoring if bines have reached the top of the wire by July 4th.
The plants are preparing to transition from vegetative growth to producing burrs with will turn into cones. It is a busy pre-season with scouts out in the hop yards carefully observing the field, checking for pest and disease threats and overall status.
