Sensory Analysis

From quality control to new-product discovery, Yakima Chief Hops' sensory program delivers credible data and sharper insight for brewers and growers worldwide.
Sensory Excellence in Quality & Innovation

The Yakima Chief Hops Sensory Analysis Program was created to push quality and innovation standards even further. The program strives to ensure quality throughout the production and brewing processes, to identify novel varieties, products, and sensory attributes, and to promote sensory education throughout the industry. Our team works in tandem with the Research & Development Lab, Yakima Chief Ranches, and the Yakima Chief Research Brewery to provide meaningful and reliable data to hop growers, brewers, and passionate beer drinkers around the world.

Survivable Compounds

Survivable Compounds

Yakima Chief Hops pioneered advanced hop analysis techniques using GC-QTOF and GC-SCD technologies to study previously undetectable compounds. These tools focus on identifying beer-soluble hop compounds that survive brewing and contribute meaningfully to finished beer aroma. By quantifying these compounds, the Survivables Research helps brewers better translate raw hop characteristics into the final product and match each variety's impact to their brewing goals.
