How to Brew with Pink Boots Blend

Pink Boots Blend hop pellets can be used anywhere in the brewing process! How and when you use the blend will depend on the goal for your finished product. Kettle and whirlpool additions provide bitterness and hop character, with fermentation and dry hopping applications boosting aroma and flavor.

Kettle

Kettle Brewing

Pink Boots Blend can be added anytime during the boil. For aromatic blends, it is recommended to add them later in the boil, or to the whirlpool to maximize flavor contributions. Alpha acid utilization rates will vary based on brewhouse efficiency.
Whirlpool

Post-Boil/Whirlpool

Pink Boots Blend delivers aroma and subtle bitterness in whirlpool additions. Adjust the dose to fine-tune aromatic intensity and control bitterness through contact time and temperature.
Fermentation

Active Fermentation Dry Hop

For brewers looking to harness the effects of biotransformation, the Pink Boots Blend can be used for dry hopping during active fermentation. Note that the addition of hop pellets early in fermentation can cause potential foam-over of cellar vessels; it is important to take extra care to make these additions safely.
Dry hopping

Post Fermentation Dry Hop

The Pink Boots Blend can be ideal for dry hopping post-fermentation, depending on the overall goal. Add them using an external hop mixing vessel or dose directly into the fermenter to enhance the aroma of your final product.

I look forward to brewing with the blend every year! The quality of the hops is always excellent and the versatility of the blend lends itself to an array of styles from goses to a double IPAs. Additionally, one of the best parts about using the blend is that it supports the Pink Boots Society, an amazing organization that on a personal level has helped me in my career and continues to be unwavering in its support of women and non-binary individuals in the alcoholic beverage industry."

Pink Boots Category: Stone Brewing takes home the Gold

The U.S. Open Beer Championship partnered with the Pink Boots Society, an organization that assists, inspires, and encourages women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage profession through education, to create the Pink Boots Blend Category. The organization has partnered with Yakima Chief Hops for several years to sell a special hops blend to benefit the Pink Boots scholarship fund, and all beers developed using this hop blend were eligible to enter the category. She’s The Brewer IPA, brewed by Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido, CA, brought home the gold medal. All entry fees for the category will be matched by the U.S. Open Beer Championship and donated back to the Pink Boots Society Scholarship Fund.
