Pacific Gem is a high-alpha hop with red berry and autumn fruit notes - think cherry and fig ad light tropical and spicy black pepper. Developed by the New Zealand Institute for Bioeconomy Science Limited hop breeding program and released in 1987, Pacific Gem™ is a triploid alpha variety with both North American and English ancestry. It is typically used as a first-hop addition for bittering, with early additions showcasing wood and blackberry flavors and late additions delivering citrus and pine.
