Gasseling Ranches

Gasseling Ranches' story begins in 1910, when William Gasseling Sr. emigrated from Holland and settled in the Yakima Valley. He established the family’s first hop farm in 1927, laying the groundwork for a multigenerational operation that would grow alongside the region’s emerging hop industry. In 1947, William Jr. and his wife, Lorraine, relocated the operation to Wapato, Washington, developing acreage that remains part of the ranch today. The farm formally became Gasseling Ranches, Inc. in 1972, when William Jr. and Lorraine joined Robert and Mary Jane Gasseling to establish the business as a third-generation hop farm.

Hop farming has remained a defining opportunity and tradition for the Gasseling family, passed down through decades of shared responsibility. Today, the ranch is operated by fourth-generation grower Patrick Gasseling, with support from Robert, Ernie, and Trishia Gasseling. In the winter, the ranch serves the community as a U-Cut Christmas Tree Farm, complete with wagon rides and onsite reindeer!

With a strong focus on sustainability and a dedication to the craft, Gasseling Ranches is certified under the Green Chief® and Global G.A.P. programs. As the industry evolves, they strive to invest in infrastructure and technology upgrades whenever possible to continue providing the highest-quality hops.
