Westwood Farms is a relatively new brand, building on over 175 years of Oregon family farming in the Willamette Valley. Founded by John Coleman and co-owned with Liz Coleman, Westwood is more than a hop farm; it is a philosophy grounded in Meliorism, the belief that progress is possible through thoughtful human action.

Rooted in regenerative agriculture, Westwood blends generational knowledge with modern farming practices to produce premium, intentionally grown hops. The farm’s fertile Willamette Valley supports a diverse portfolio of sought-after hop varieties grown with a focus on soil vitality, water conservation, habitat restoration, and integrated pest management. Westwood is Salmon-Safe® certified and known for its careful, data-driven approach to farming that prioritizes resilience, consistency, and environmental responsibility alongside hop quality.

Today, Westwood is a team of experienced experts and next-generation family members, led by Sarah Pearson. Together, they carry forward a legacy of stewardship while pushing the farm towards innovation and collaboration. Guided by strong values and respect for the land, Westwood Farms delivers hops that reflect both where they come from and where the industry is headed.

Quote Mark

Hop farming, at its heart, is about connection to our land, our team, and the brewers who transform what we grow into a craft shared. Partnering with Yakima Chief Hops means that connection extends well beyond our farm. As a grower-owned company, YCH intentionally brings farmers and brewers together in ways that strengthen shared value and long‑term success for both. Guided by Meliorism, we work with intention each season to care for our land and hops, deepen our partnerships, and help shape a future that continues to improve with each generation.

We are energized to carry forward the life, land, and legacy we have been entrusted with, and we continually ask ourselves how we can do better. Through our philosophy of Meliorism, we grow with intention each season focused on better stewardship of the land, stronger relationships across the value chain, and building a future we are proud to pass on.
