Perrault Farms

The Perrault family’s farming legacy in the Yakima Valley began in 1902, when 18-year-old Alberic Perrault arrived in Moxee, Washington, by rail from Minnesota to establish a homestead for his family. In 1928, Alberic planted his first hops, establishing a deep and lasting connection to the valley. He and his wife, Mamie, raised 13 children on the farm, a large family that became an integral part of managing the land and shaping the next generation of farmers.

The legacy was carried on by Alberic’s son, Bernard “Barney” Perault, who, along with his wife, June, formally established Perrault Farms in 1962. They settled in Toppenish, Washington, in 1968, in an idyllic setting that is still in operation today, with views of Mt. Adams just beyond their bison paddock.

Barney and June’s eldest son, Steve, has worked on the farm with his wife Judy since they were married in 1969. Today, Steve and Judy provide guidance to the fourth-generation management team made up of their sons: Jason (CEO), Jeff (VP of Resources and Compliance), Sam (Controller), and cousin Tim Perrault (VP of Operations). The family’s hop tradition continues into the fifth generation with several of Steve and Judy’s grandchildren actively preparing for careers on the farm as well.

Acknowledging their success as one of the premier hop grower operations, Barney and Steve have both received the Order of the Hop Award, one of the highest honors in the U.S. hop industry.
