American Noble Hops™

A Pacific Northwest twist on noble hop varieties

WHAT ARE AMERICAN NOBLE HOPS™?

American Noble Hops™ pellets are the leafy parts of the hop cone (bract and strig) which has had most of the lupulin removed resulting in a “de-bittered” hop. They are produced from whole leaf hops using Yakima Chief Hops’ proprietary cryogenic separation process that preserves all components of each fraction.

Analytically, American Noble Hops™ appear similar in character to traditional noble hops, including high aromatics and low alpha acids, while retaining regional hop characteristics that make them unique to America’s Pacific Northwest. This contributes pleasant noble bitterness with the unique aromas of higher resin varieties such as Simcoe® Brand, Mosaic® Brand and Cascade.

CHIEF ADVANTAGES

  • Unique flavor profiles from high-resin hops
  • Noble hop replacement with reliable supply
  • High-quality, low-alpha product
  • Low cost alternative
  • Source of polyphenols & antioxidants

HOW TO BREW WITH AMERICAN NOBLE HOPS™?

American Noble hops are a low alpha, nuanced solution for brewers looking to add an American twist to old-world brewing styles. A diverse aroma profile also makes them an ideal solution for sour beers, saison, lagers, and anywhere else a nuanced hop character is desired.

KETTLE: American Noble Hops may be used at any point during the pre-boil and boil stages of the brewing process. Exact utilization rates will vary based on brewhouse efficiency.

Post-Boil/Whirlpool: American Noble Hops are a perfect solution for post-boil/whirlpool applications. Dosing rates will vary based on desired aroma intensity. Note that some bitterness will be extracted any temperatures above 140°F (60°C).

Fermentation: American Noble Hops may be used in active-fermentation dry hop scenarios. A light touch is recommended for best results (<2 lbs/bbl). Please take extra care to ensure the safety of your brewery in this step, as additional fermentation activity can cause foam-over of cellar vessels.

Dry hopping: American Noble Hops may be used for dry-hopping. A light touch is recommended for best results (<2 lbs/bbl).
